Established in 1927, FICCI is the largest and oldest apex business organization in India. Its history is closely interwoven with India's struggle for independence, its industrialization, and its emergence as one of the most rapidly growing global economies. FICCI has contributed to this historical process by encouraging debate, articulating the private sector's views and influencing policy. A non-government, not-for-profit organization, FICCI is the voice of India's business and industry. FICCI draws its membership from the corporate sector, both private and public, including SMEs and MNCs; FICCI enjoys an indirect membership of over 2,50,000 companies from various regional chambers of commerce.
Each Year, FICCI hosts a conference dedicated to Healthcare and provides a forum for a detailed interaction between Government stakeholder and Industry as well as foreign experts. It is a prestigious conference and 2013 edition was held on September 2-3, 2013 around a central theme of "Sustainable Quality Healthcare". Our Chairman, Mr Shivinder Mohan Singh was part of the CEO Panel along with Mr Ramesh Govindraj, lead Health Specialist, World Bank and Ms Sangita Reddy, Chair FICCI Health Services. The panel was chaired by Mr C.K.Mishra, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and convened by Mr Rajen Padukone, MD and CEO Manipal Health Services.
The session provided view points from various stakeholders and suggested a road map for Affordable Healthcare in India, focused on bottom lines for expenses and diagnosis and how can one optimize costs while running a hospital, various aspects of safety to understand how we can tackle the issue of errors committed in any healthcare facility and also emphasized on various medical and paramedical services that can be provided in an emergency situation, before a patient is brought to a hospital.
Our Managing Director, Mr. Maninder S Grewal was among the panelists for FICCI HEAL, 2013 along with Dr. S Bhattacharya, Head, Health Informatics TCS, Dr. K Ganapathy, Head, Apollo Telemedicine Network and Mr. Anjan Bose - Secretary General, NATHealth in a panel discussion on "Transforming Healthcare through Information Technology". The Moderator in the panel was Mr. Krishna Giri who heads Accenture's Healthcare practice. The session discussed the perspectives in the evolving role of IT in healthcare including electronic medical records, HIS, telemedicine and the initiatives around implementing the standardized Electronic Health record recently established by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
